Wise Acres Cooperative Association
Wise Acres Cooperative Association is an intentional, consensus-based, and intergenerational community where we recognize and respect individual needs, balanced with what is best for the community as whole.
Our values:
- We practice consensus decision-making.
We use consensus as our formal decision-making process. Outside of meetings, our communication is rooted in listening, collaboration, transparent dialogue, and shared leadership. We recognize that the true leader of our community is the shared values we hold. - We engage in environmental conservation and land stewardship.
Living on the unceded lands of the Suquamish peoples, we commit to tending this living earth with an ongoing intention toward sustainable practices, reducing harm, and supporting the well-being and thriving of future generations. - We share work, resources, and time to sustain community strength and resilience.
We commit to sharing in the work necessary to meet the needs of the community to the best of our capacities at any given time. We believe that working together enriches the relationships that support the vitality and wellbeing of our community. - We strive to honor individual differences and build community through mutual respect.
We’re committed to a culture of care and respect, guided by shared values, to learn from our differences with curiosity and humility, to do the inner work needed to grow, and strive to be a community where each person belongs. - We work to build and maintain healthy relationships.
We commit to compassion, care, consent, and accountability in our relationships. We agree to address conflict openly and honestly, and repair ruptures with kindness and courage.
- We endeavor to raise our children in a safe, caring environment.
Children are a vital part of our community. We are committed to creating a nurturing environment to ensure children feel valued and respected as members throughout their development into adulthood.
- We care for each other and our shared wellbeing.
We tend to both community health and individual needs, honoring life’s important moments. Through play, creativity, curiosity, and learning, we stay open to what helps us evolve and thrive.
- We strive to live with respect and care of the histories and communities we are part of.
We recognize that our wellbeing is interwoven with the lives, land, and communities around us. Rooted in Indianola on Suquamish land, we commit to honoring place and tending our interdependence with care and integrity.
